Saba earned her first degrees in English Language Education and Business Administration and Information Systems (BAIS). She later obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work from Addis Ababa University. Her multidisciplinary academic journey reflects her broad intellectual interests—combining language, business, and social development.

Although she had the opportunity to work in both national and international institutions—including Ethiopian Airlines and a collaborative project at Addis Ababa University with Durham University in England, where she served as a project coordinator—Saba ultimately chose to dedicate herself to teaching.

She worked at the International Community School of Addis Ababa (ICS), where she contributed to shaping young minds in an international learning environment. Her decision to pursue education highlights her commitment to mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and youth development.

Literary Career

Beyond her academic and professional life, Saba Mekuria deeply adores poetry and writing. Her literary voice is reflective, emotionally resonant, and socially aware.

She has published the following poetry books:

• Ye Zemen Edime (2018) – A collection exploring themes of time, personal growth, and generational reflection.

• Gize Weyin Chereka (2021) – A poetic exploration of memory, emotion, and the human condition.

• Yeqne Mestegabir – A collaborative poetry collection created alongside Ethiopian and Romanian poets, highlighting cross-cultural literary dialogue.

Multimedia and Creative Expression

Saba has also embraced visual poetry as an artistic medium. She produced and released two poetry video clips on her YouTube channel:

• “Meche Timechalesh?”

Through these productions, she expands poetry beyond the written page—blending performance, imagery, and spoken word to engage wider audiences.
