Michael Masrie

Michael Masrie is an award-winning journalist, author, and diplomatic affairs analyst with over 12 years of experience covering business, finance, and international relations across Ethiopia and Africa. As a correspondent for The Africa Report, Jeune Afrique, African Business Magazine, and Allen Dreyfus, he specialises in sovereign and corporate debt, investment flows, frontier markets, and emerging sectors, including fintech, energy, and logistics.

With a background spanning broadcast journalism, academic research, and strategic communications, Michael combines analytical rigour with compelling storytelling to produce agenda-setting features for decision-makers. He has conducted exclusive interviews with CEOs, policymakers, and financial leaders, connecting local developments to continental and global market trends.

Michael is a published author of 16+ books spanning diplomacy, political science, language learning, and Amharic literature. He holds advanced degrees from Addis Ababa University and is currently pursuing his PhD in Peace and Security Studies at IPSS.
