Tagel Seifu

Tagel Seifu is a prominent Ethiopian poet, novelist, and performer known for his witty and thought-provoking Amharic literature. He gained early recognition in Ethiopia, publishing his first collection of poems and short stories, Fiker (Love), at just 16 years old. 

Tagel’s work often blends social commentary with humor, addressing complex historical and contemporary Ethiopian issues. He is widely recognized for his public poetry performances, which are frequently shared on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. 

His writing is noted for its sharp insight into human nature and society. For instance, his 2024 book Zinbulana Karot (Zinbula and Carrot), though sounding like a children’s story, is actually an adult fiction that serves as a modern fairy tale reflecting current societal appearances.
